Rya Rugs

When grandma taught me how to make rya rugs, I was hooked. I am fascinated by this technique, which possibilities are unlimited and which hasn't really changed through out the generations. It's still the same knot and process, which you can't rush. It's a slow meditative process during which the artwork reveals itself inch by inch.

I believe that slowing down is something that we need in today's society and that could solve a lot of issues. To just take it minute by minute, feel more, appreciate time and observe. I believe that art, which has taken hours and hours in order to be created, has that time preserved in it. The rya rug called Namu is made of 10 502 hand made knots.
